“It really do be like that sometimes.”

I used to use OpenStreetMap.nl for maps on my Garmin GPSmap 64s (I suspect this works on the other GPSmap devices as well), but the download-queue for getting maps from the site has become impractical:
This request is #20312 in the queue. The delay is approximately 84.6 days.
I then stumbled on https://garmin.opentopomap.org/ which pulls in Map-data from the popular, Open Street Map. I’ve been pleasantly surprised with how well it works – with the added bonus that it doesn’t need Garmin’s BaseCamp to install the map.
Simply select the country/region and copy the *.img into the folder /Garmin/ of your microSD card. If you want the contour lines, copy the contour .img file into the same directory.
